I have always known Amman Tech Tuesdays but did not really attend before until today, and today, has been the anniversary edition showcasing many independent projects and start-ups in booths @ Zara Expo.

AmmanTT has a main goal which is to enrich the technological Eco-system in Amman, building a customized technology oasis for the region.

I moved to Amman Jordan back in June 2009, and as always I have some sort of online exposure. At that time the Twitter mania was getting out there specially in the Jordanian scene. We started meeting and have our own little JoTweetup meetings. I was fortunate enough to make new friends from all sectors and classes.
Then few months later, I came up with a new hashtag (#Top50Jo) to list the top things we like about Jordan. Of course this was one of my random thoughts, but the feedback was enormous, everybody started tweeting their most favorite thing about Jordan and we even had a video about it.

AmmanTT اختصار لـ Amman Tech Tuesday وهي فعالية تُقام مرة كل شهر في جامعة الأميرة سُميّة بعمّان، وتستضيف هذه الفعالية خبراء في مجالات التكنولوجيا المختلفة.
اليوم الثلاثاء 13-7-2010 تٌقام فعالية AmmanTT لهذا الشهر وستكون عن الإعلام الإجتماعي Social Media وسيكون للتدوين نصيب فيها فقد تم اختياري كي أكون ضمن المُتحدّثين في هذه الفعالية عن التحديات التي تُواجه المدوّنين، وستكون هناك جلسة نقاش إضافة إلى استقبال أسئلة المشاركين والإجابة عليها.

Amman, embrace yourself on the first Tuesday of every month! Yes this is what AmmanTT is about; Amman Tech Tuesdays.
AmmanTT is an open event to the public, not sponsored by any company or organization. A group of techies came up with the idea. The purpose of the 2 hours event is to bring specialized speakers from the industry experts, local technologists/engineers, entrepreneurs, idea-generators and just about any enthusiast together in a casual setting to meet and learn from each other.

The time is approaching and a team of more than ten people is working round the clock , to get this event as perfect as the community deserve. Here we are two weeks and approaching this magnificent event , a lot of surprises , speakers , exhibitors , startups , prizes and more.

A very technical talk about open source technologies; this option is slightly better, with a much smaller risk of pissed off people. It still sucks though, because you’re risking alienating half the audience, some of whom are not exactly technical, like myself.

We here in Jordan have to thank god for many blessings we have, one of those blessings is the Tech industry which is expanding rapidly. And while there wasn’t much events that support this field. A bunch of guys started with an idea and now they’re celebrating 1 year of continues events that allow people in the industry to explore and showcase they’re startups and there work.

Here’s another nifty initiative from the local tech community: Amman Tech Tuesdays, which takes place on the first Tuesday of every month. The idea is as simple as it sounds. A day that brings tech enthusiasts in Jordan together, from the IT geek to the investor with a few thousand JDs wanting to start “the next Google”.
